Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 lb ground sausage
  • 1/2 cup napa cabbage finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot finely grated
  • 1/4 yellow onion finely minced
  • 4 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 pkg square wonton wrappers

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp canola oil OR vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, pork, cabbage, carrot, onion, garlic, egg, black pepper, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Using your hands, gently mix everything together.
  • Place a scant tablespoon of filling into the center of the wrapper. Dab your finger in warm water and drag it across two edges of the wrapper. Fold over and press to seal. Then, using a fork, crimp the edge so that the wrapper really sticks together (this is a quick method that eliminates the need to pleat the edges). Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add oil.
  • Once the oil is hot add the prepared potstickers. Fry both sides until brown.
  • Once cooked on both sides, add the water, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the pan. Cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Steam for about 5 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.
