Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup quick cooking oats
  • 2 tsp oat bran
  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp dry powdered milk*
  • 1-3 tsp brown sugar**
  • pinch salt

Mix-Ins

  • 2/3-3/4 cup water

Instructions

  • In a small prep bowl combine all of the ingredients, whisk together. Add in any desired spices, nuts, dried fruit or chocolate and place into a microwave-safe bowl and add 2/3 c. water. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Stir and let cool. Mix in an additional tablespoon or two of water if needed.

Notes

*I used Bob's Red Mill non-fat powdered milk, but King Arthur Flour makes a good dried milk as well.
**I'd suggest starting with 1 tsp. of sugar (you can also use other sweeteners if desired) and go up from there.
{mix-ins} chopped dried fruit, chopped nuts, chocolate, spices etc.
-I make individual portions at a time and then place them in sandwich size ziploc bags, that way I can make multiple flavors, have them prepped for the week and take them on the go if needed.
