Create a winter wonderland on your plate with our Nutella Puff Pastry Snowflake, a dazzling blend of rich chocolate hazelnut spread, flaky puff pastry, and a hint of zesty orange.
2sheets puff pastrythawed and cut into 9-inch rounds
1/2c.Nutella
Zest of a large orange
1egg lightly beaten
2tbsp.powdered sugarfor dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the first round of puff pastry onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Using an offset spatula, spread the Nutella over top, leaving a 1/4-inch rim around the outside uncovered. Zest the orange over top.
Place the second round of puff pastry over top, press gently to seal. Mark the center of the circle. Using a pastry wheel or pizza cutter, cut the circle into fourths, leaving about a half inch of uncut dough in the center. Continue by cutting the fourths into eighths, then the eighths into sixteenths. You should have sixteen sections.
Grab two sections and twist them away from each other three times, then press the two ends together to make a point. Repeat until you have 8 points or "arms."
Brush the snowflake with a light coat of egg wash, then place in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and fully baked.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired, and enjoy!
Notes
-If you want a more pronounced orange flavor, try mixing a tablespoon of orange marmalade into the Nutella.STORE the Nutella Puff Pastry Snowflake at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
