I LOVE to bake. If you have been around my blog for a while you know baking is where my passion is. So, when you need to throw together a baked good quickly for a large group of people, this Cherry Dump Cake Recipe is definitely my go to!

A dump cake is like the crockpot version of baking. You literally “dump” everything in a pan and put it in the oven to bake. Quick, easy, and delicious, it doesn’t get better than that!

If you love cherry desserts as much as I do, then you have to also try my Cherry Tarts and Cherry Almond Cupcakes!

Why I Love This Dump Cake

  • It’s an easy dessert that only takes one hour to create!
  • You don’t have to use a bowl or a mixer, everything goes straight into the baking pan.
  • You only need 5 ingredients.

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for cherry dump cake.

Yellow Cake Mix – You want to make sure to use a box of dry cake mix. Yellow cake mix is my favorite to use for this recipe, but you could also use white cake mix.

Chopped Pecans – For an added texture of crunch within the cake.

Vanilla Extract – An added aromatic flavor to the overall cake.

Recipe Variations

Cake Mix – When it comes to choosing your box of dry cake mix, I like using yellow. However, you can also use white cake mix. Or even use a chocolate cake mix and make your own chocolate cherry dump cake recipe.

Pecans – The pecans are 100% optional. I like the additional texture and crunch in my dump cake. In the past, I have also added half a cup of chocolate chips in with the pecans to give it a chocolate cherry flavor.

Vanilla Extract – I like adding vanilla for an additional layer of flavor. However, it is not required so you don’t have to use it, or you can use a different extract such as almond extract instead.
