It’s a twist on a classic chicken noodle soup. This recipe is just as good as the classic version but has a creamier taste than the broth-based one.
I made this soup a few weeks ago, and our youngest insisted we make it again, so I did! It’s hearty without being overly rich, full of veggies and protein, and loaded with thick, homestyle egg noodles. Everyone will love it!

How to Make Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup
Step 1: In a large stockpot or Dutch oven set over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the carrots, celery, and onion, and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes. Pour in the broth and water, and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the seasonings, then the egg noodles. Boil for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Meanwhile, in a medium skillet set over medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of butter. Whisk in the flour and cook, whisking constantly for 1-2 minutes or until it turns a pale golden brown. Slowly pour in the milk and cream, whisking until a smooth paste forms. Carefully whisk the mixture into the large pot.

Step 3: Add the shredded chicken and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Remove from heat once the egg noodles are tender. Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley, if desired.

My husband loves this and requests it when ever the weather turns
I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious! My family loved it too! It will be one that I will memorize very quickly, as I’ll be making it quite often due to the cold weather her in the Midwest. When you find a good comfort food like this one that takes the chill out of the bones it becomes a staple in your home for many years to come! Ty for sharing!
Made this tonight, tastes wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
This is such good soup!!! Very east to make too. My husband thought it great. We enjoyed it with some sourdough bread. Thanks for the recipe.
I plan on making this! It sounds delicious, but I wanted to know if I need to get a bigger pot. I currently have a 4 quart Dutch oven. Do you think that would work?
Hi Hannah! I would use a bigger pot otherwise your Dutch oven will be overfull or full to the brim. If you want to use your Dutch oven I would recommend cutting the recipe in half which you can easily do by changing the servings in the recipe card or the print screen.
Excellent!!
Made it in a short period of time. You definitely need to save and cook this for a hearty meal. I just paired crusty bread with it !
