Why I Love This Recipe

Using the  Benty Cake Mold Set you get perfect cake pops every time!

It is a fun, delicious, and colorful way to celebrate the parents to be!

Cake pops use simple ingredients and are a fun treat for any age!

Variations

Cake Mix – For a girl reveal you can use vanilla cake with pink food coloring or use a strawberry cake mix to make pink cake pops.

Candy Melts – You can use any colors you want on the outside if there is a theme or color scheme.

Frosting – I like adding in cream cheese frosting but you can choose any white frosting you would prefer. I would not recommend a chocolate frosting because it could alter the color of the cake pop dough.

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for gender reveal cake pops.

Frosting – Adding a little bit of frosting to the baked cake helps create a smooth cake pop dough.

Food Coloring – To express to guests what the gender of the baby is.

How to Make Gender Reveal Cake Pops

Note: These are the steps for making Boy Gender Reveal Cake Pops, simply change the cake type or food coloring for a Baby Girl Gender Reveal.

Step 1: Make the cake batter and place it into a cake pan and bake in your oven according to the package directions until a toothpick comes out clean. For the white cake mix add in 3 drops of blue food coloring or blue gel food coloring to create the blue cake coloring.

Step 2: After the cake has baked, place the cake in a large bowl or stand mixer with a paddle attachment and add 3 Tbsp of frosting. Note: You can do this while the cake is still warm.

Step 3: Mix the warm cake with the frosting until a cake pop dough forms.

Step 4: Then, using your cake pop dough mixture, fill each of the smaller cake pop molds scraping off any excess cake on top and then freeze for 15-30 minutes.

Step 5: While the cake is freezing in the mold, melt about 1 cup of your selected candy melts (I chose white for the exterior coating) and 1 teaspoon of shortening in your microwave until smooth. The shortening will allow the consistency to be a little thinner and easier to work with.

Step 6: Then, remove the cakes from the freezer and pop them out of their mold. Then using the larger cake pop mold pour in the melted candy melts about halfway up the mold, add in the cake center and press down as far as you can so that the vanilla melts chocolate goes up around the sides and top and then scrape or smooth the top over so that you can make an even pop in the mold.

Step 7: Place the mold in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to set.

Step 8: Once the pops are set, pop them out of the mold, decorate to your liking, and enjoy!

Expert Tip

For decorating I melt each of the two colors of candy melts separately and add each of them to a zip top bag. Then cut the corner on each and do a zig-zag line over the top for a beautifully decorated gender reveal cake pop!

FAQs

What other toppings or decorations can I use for my gender reveal cake pops?

Other fun decorations I would recommend would be using sprinkles, blue and pink cake crumbs, or even mini chocolate chips such as mini white chocolate chips.

Why do you call these cake pops when they are not smooth balls on a lollipop stick?

I have had so many different types of cake pops in my time. Although when someone thinks of a cake pop, they think of the balls on a stick, to me using the mold and the same method of cake coated by candy melts, to me that is a cake pop. No matter what the shape and size may be.
