Who doesn’t love a comfort food meal? That’s exactly what you get with my Instant Pot Ham and Beans. A great way to use a leftover ham bone or leftover ham from the holidays to make a flavorful meal to feed the whole crowd.

Variations

Water – For a bolder taste you can use chicken broth, chicken stock, or a combination of one with water as the liquid in your pressure cooker.

Vegetables – I like using carrots and onions in this recipe. Other veggies I would recommend for this bean soup would be celery, potatoes, or even kale.

How to Make Instant Pot Ham and Beans

Step 1: Place onion, beans, ham bone, and seasonings, into your Instant Pot and cover with water. Add the lid and set the vent to seal.

Step 2: Cook on high pressure for 1 hour and then quick release the pressure.

Step 3: Remove the bone and bay leaf and then add in the chopped ham and carrots and cook for another 5 minutes on high pressure and then quick release the pressure again.

Step 4: Garnish with fresh, chopped parsley then serve and enjoy!

What other beans can I use in my Instant Pot Ham and Beans recipe?

Other beans I would recommend for this recipe would be pinto beans, navy beans, cannellini beans, black beans, or any other white beans that you prefer.

What other seasonings can I use in this Ham and Bean soup?

If you are wanting to add additional seasonings to this recipe I would recommend an onion soup seasoning packet. Or, for a hint of spice I would add in a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to give it a kick.

You can store any leftovers of this Instant Pot Ham and Beans in an airtight container in your fridge for 4-5 days.
