Recipe Variations
Add a Spicy Kick – If you want a recipe with more spice I would recommend adding in a little chipotle or cayenne powder to the dish. You could even add some green peppers for a less spicy taste as well.
Pie Filling – If you are not a fan of apples you could also use cherry pie filling or even peach pie filling in this recipe instead.
Mustard – If you are in a pinch you can always use yellow mustard if you do not have Dijon mustard on hand.
How to Make Apple Pie Baked Beans
Step 1: In a pan over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Then set onto paper towels to cool. Once cooled, chop into small pieces.

Step 2: Drain out a majority of the bacon grease leaving about 1 Tablespoon in the skillet and sauté the yellow onion until softened.

Step 3: Next, add the beans, apple pie filling, onion, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and ¾ of the bacon crumbles to a crock pot or slow cooker and mix everything together.

Step 4: Cook on low heat for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Step 5: Finally, top with the remaining bacon crumbles, serve with a slotted spoon and enjoy!
