Recipe Ingredients
Chocolate Chips – Semi-sweet chocolate chips give a rich chocolatey base.

Nuts – Use roasted peanuts, roasted almonds, and walnuts. You can coarsely chop them or leave them whole for added crunch.

Variations
Chocolate Options – Replace semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate chips for a deeper, more intense chocolate flavor.
Flavor Enhancements – Mix in a splash of vanilla extract, almond extract, or a touch of chocolate liqueur to the melted chocolate mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
How to Make Homemade Rocky Road Bars
Step 1: In a large glass bowl (big enough to fit in your microwave), combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, and butter. Microwave on medium heat for 3 minutes. Remove from the microwave and allow to cool enough that the marshmallows won’t melt (a couple of minutes or so).
Step 2: Fold in nuts and marshmallows, making sure to coat evenly with chocolate.
Step 3: Pour mixture into a 9×13 pan, lined with wax paper. Press the mixture firmly down into the pan.
Step 4: Cover with plastic wrap and allow to cool for 2-3 hours before serving.
Expert Tips
Use a Rolling Pin – To keep the mixture evenly pressed into the pan, lightly grease a rolling pin with butter or oil. It helps smooth out the surface without sticking.
Cut with a Hot Knife – When cutting the cooled candy bars, dip a knife in hot water and dry it off before slicing. This gives clean, smooth cuts without crumbling.

Do you stir the chocolate and condensed milk while it’s melting (like you would to temper chocolate) or would that cause the milk to do something funny (like curdle)?
You microwave for 3 min & then let sit for a couple min. You could stir it after it’s been microwaved, before adding the marshmallows.
This is rocky road the adults will love too. Perfect for the holidays.
Yum – I love rocky road too!
