Variations

  • Topping Options: Top this pie with chocolate shavings, chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, and/or use the remaining whipped cream. Alternatively, you can try drizzling melted chocolate, adding crushed peppermint candies, mini chocolate chips, or chocolate curls for extra flavor and texture. Fresh mint leaves or a touch of edible glitter can also elevate the presentation.
  • Peppermint Alternative: For a different twist, use mint extract and green crème de menthe instead of peppermint extract and food coloring. This will add a slightly different mint flavor and a natural green hue to your pie.

How to Make No Bake Mint Grasshopper Pie

Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, add the butter. Melt the butter in the microwave on half power. Add the crushed Oreos and salt to the melted butter. Toss to moisten crumbs.

Step 2: Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan or a 9-inch springform pan. Set aside.

Step 3: In the bowl of a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add marshmallow fluff, salt, peppermint extract, and food coloring. Mix until combined.

Step 4: In a separate mixing bowl, using a stand mixer or a handheld mixer, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Using a rubber spatula, fold the freshly whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.

Step 5: Gently fold the chopped Oreos into the filling. Pour into the prepared crust.

Expert Tips

  • Clean Slices: Dip your knife in hot water and wipe it dry before slicing the pie. This helps to achieve clean and neat cuts through the creamy filling and crust.
  • Avoid Streaks: When folding the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, do so gently and thoroughly to avoid streaks. This ensures a smooth and evenly mixed filling for your pie.
  • Crust Compaction: Use the bottom of a measuring cup or glass to firmly press the Oreo cookie crumbs mixture into the pie plate. This ensures a solid base that holds together well.

    1. Hi Mary, just use the standard package, not the family size and not the party size. The current standard package is 14.3 oz.

I used peppermint oil since that’s what I had And only did 1tsp and it turned out to be too strong even though I cut Down. Any advice of how to balance the too strong mint flavor?

    1. Peppermint oil is VERY strong for sure! I would use peppermint extract if you have any on hand – it is not as strong as the oil. If you don’t have peppermint extract, use just about 3 drops of the peppermint oil and taste test it to see if it needs any more. Hope this helps!
